🌞 Summer SPOPtacular 👙

Weekly prompts running through June, July and August, as well as some alternate prompts for anyone not feeling the heat.

Here's how it works...

Do as many or as few prompts as you wish. If you want to skip around, go for it! Interpret them however you want too, even if that's in an abstract way. No stress, no pressure, the point is just to give us inspiration for fun ideas to keep the SPOP love going throughout the summer.

All fanworks welcome! You can post fanart, fanfic, video edits, drabbles, headcanons, simple sketches or even update an existing fanfic or other work if new chapter fits the prompt. Just make sure adult or triggering content is tagged and posted correctly.

Saying that again to make sure you see it: ❗yes, you can participate by adding a new chapter to an already posted WIP so long as it fits the prompt! ❗

The prompt for week 13 is Decades Later.

Here are some ideas on how you might fill this prompt:

you could focus on the characters as grandparents,

you could imagine their last New Year together before someone dies,

you could write about something else that might happen decades after canon,

...or you could create something that doesn't use our prompt!

Solo Weekly Prompt #3: defend, fame

System used-- Cthulhu Deep Green

Oracle used-- Mythic 2e

Scene context/setup--

The 4 agents have gone to the police station, in efforts to figure out if there are any injured or dead from the events at the cult hideout.

Scene check--

Expected scene

[Is the station busy? - 46 No]

South leads the group as they walk into the station, greeting officers as he passes them. He approaches the station's front desk, stops.

"Good afternoon," he says.

The person at the desk looks up from their computer. "Afternoon," they say back. "Can I help you?"

South produces a business card-- it's not his actual name or contact, it's a colleague's.

"I'm with the local paper," he says. "We're here investigating what happened last night."

The person at the desk straightens up. "You heard on the police scanner?" they ask.

South nods.

They glance at their computer as they say, "If you want someone to talk to, Eric and Jones were the ones who responded. They should be in the back."

Sparrow speaks up then: "Do you have any records of the injured or dead from the scene?"

The person at the desk hesitates. "You'd need to talk to the chief about getting those;" they say.

Sparrow gives them a curt nod. "Are they here?"

The person at the desk dials on their desk phone, asks for the chief and listens, then hangs up with a shake of their head. "Not at the moment," they say.

"Any idea when they'll be back?" Sam asks.

The person at the desk is looking at their monitor again. "Not sure," they answer.

South turns to the rest of the group-- "I'll go talk to the officers, you all wait here for the chief."

He heads off down the hallway, slowing down as he peers into various open rooms, trying to keep one eye out for any personnel.

[Is there a computer room anywhere? - 26 Yes]

South finds a computer room to the left, before the break room. He pokes his head in.

[Is there anyone in the room? - 87 No]

South eases his way into the room and gingerly pulls the door shut, before he glances around to see if he can find any security cameras or not.

[Is there a camera here? - 66 No]

[South to be sure there isn't a camera--

Human: 3, highest-- barely succeeds

Occupation: 1

Failure: 1]

South gives the room a few passes before he stands over by the computer, looking visibly nervous as he examines the dark screen.

[Is the computer locked? - 83 No]

The computer is unlocked; when South moves the mouse, the dark screen changes to a home screen where someone's already been logged in.

He opens the file explorer and begins to search for anything about the crime scene last night.

[South to find what he's looking for--

Human: 5, highest-- not crit, success w/adv

Occupation: 4

Failure: 3]

Digging through the files, South finds a few relevant files, including the police report. He rummages through the desk drawer for a USB.

[Does he find one? -- 50 Yes]

South, sweating now and glancing back at the door very few seconds, slots the USB into place and sets the files to copy.

It takes a while due to some of the files being being considerably large videos.

[Does this complete before anyone comes in? - 88 exceptional no]

As he's waiting, someone steps into the room.

South startles and freezes, his efforts in plain sight. The person who's stepped into the room is the assistant to the chief, and in surprise shouts "Hey, what are you doing?" at him.

[Does South rip out the USB? - 17 Yes]

South pulls the USB out without ejecting it and sprints out of the room.

The assistant is on his heels, radio'ing out to the rest of the station.

He makes it back to the front lobby area, rushes past the other agents, out the door and just continues to book out. The assistant races after him, a few other officers thundering behind.

The other three look at each other, then at the front desk person. They're sipping some coffee.

"If anyone asks, I wasn't here," they say.

[Trio to catch up--

Human:

Sparrow-- 5

Saturday-- 6

Sam-- 6

Total: 17

Occupation:

Sparrow - 6

Saturday - 4

Sam - 1

Total: 11

Dark:

Everyone manages to catch up with the officers, assistant, and South-- Saturday attempts to trip the nearest officer into the others.

[Saturday to trip--

Human: 3

Dark: 1

Failure: 4, highest - failure]

Saturday accidentally extends too far and puts himself off balance, slamming hard into the dirt.

Sparrow pauses to help him; Sam keeps running.

South has lead the chase down an alley way, is approaching a high brick wall at the end. He continues running straight at it, preparing to launch himself up and over the wall.

[South to parkour--

Human: 2

Dark: 5, highest - takes +1 stress (1/6)

Failure: 4]

South manages to throw himself up the wall and chamber over the top. The assistant shouts at him, turns to his officers-- they take off at his word.

Sam catches up, skids to a stop, panting. The assistant runs past her, radio'ing again for backup; Sam glances back for the others.

Sparrow and Saturday come jogging over; Saturday stands by the wall of the alley and brushes dirt off of his clothes. "South?"

Sam nods toward the wall. "Went over it, I think."

[Does someone's phone ring? - 18 Yes]

Saturday's phone rings then. He picks up. Muffled, quiet-- "Saturday."

It's South.

"Hey! You get arrested yet?"

There's sirens in the background.

"Fuck off," says South. "Come get me."

Saturday's phone buzzes again as he gets a text-- it's a photo of a map with a small green X drawn digitally onto it.

Saturday shows it to the others, and the trio make their way back to the car, getting in and heading off and get South.

The weekly prompt for last week!! Our dear Goddess Eden did in fact have friends, oddly enough. Her closest friend has sadly passed, but their creations are still being protected to this day by both her and the Villicus.
